It is shown that spin projection of a UHF wave function recovers simultaneously a spatial symmetry owing to the group theoretical structure of UHF wave functions. A general procedure is obtained to know the type of the recovered spatial symmetry of a spin projected UHF wave function from the symmetry of the unprojected one.
