Phonon-Raman Scattering in the Two-Dimensional Diluted System K_2Cu_xZn_<1-x>F_4

Phonon-Raman spectra of K.Cu.Zn. .F. (l .j,vq0) measured at room temperatureare reported. With the change of Cu"-concentration (,X"), there appear two-types ofStokes lines; one is observable for lg,vg0, the other only for lp,x'>0.4. Thecharacteristic behavior of the latter type is closely related with the disappearance ofthe cooperative Jahn-Teller distortion well confirmed in K2CUF.. The results arediscussed in connection with the percolation phenomena of a square lattice. Judgingfrom the theoretical suggestion that the percolation thresholds for the first and se-cond nearest neighbor couplings are 0.59 and 0.41 respectively, we point out that thecoupling between the second nearest neighbors in the c-plane plays an important roleon forming an infinite linkage of the cooperative distortion especially over the rangeof 0.59>.x'>0.4.
