As a simple model for a-Agl, a system with ionic potentials consisting of onlya Coulombic and a soft-core repulsive terms is investigated with use of a moleculardynamics method. The system has interesting scaling properties and is characterizedby the ratio of the ion core radii and F, 'the ratio of potential strengths betweenthe Coulombic and soft-core terms. It is shown that there exists a range of T inwhich the iodine sublattice forms a stable bcc structure and silver tons arc dis-ordered. The F- and temperature dependences of various quantities are examined. In this range of T the diffusion and the density distribution of silver ions are inaccord with the experiments.
