Using molecular dynamics techniques for canonical ensemble systems, the low-temr>erature r>rot>erties of amorrhous svstems of the soft-core model (inverse 12thpower potential) have been studied. The systems were prepared by rapid quenchingof a liquid sample consisting of 256 particles arranged in a computational cellwith reriodic boundaries. The characteristics of the resultins structural rror>ertiesare found to be similar to those commonly observed in amorphous solids. Ananalytic equation of state is proposed for the amorphous state at temperaturesbelow the freezing point. Configurational thermodynamic properties are calculatedfrom this, and their significance is discussed.
