A thermonuclear ballooning eigenmode of an electrostatic perturbation in atoroidal plasma is obtained with inclusion of the toroidal couplings is well as themagnetic shear effects. In the presence of high-energy, slowed-down alpha par-ticles, the mode is driven by the combined effect of the total pressure gradient ofion species (alphas and host tons) and the toroidal curvature. We include thekinetic effects, i.e. the finite gyroradius and wave-particle interactions. Theballooning mode is always unstable and no critical density of alphas is found forthe onset of the instability. Associated anomalous particle fluxes are estimated. We find that the ratio of alpha flux and ion one is roughly proportional to theratio of their pressure gradients.
