Anomalous Plasma Transport due to Electromagnetic Drift Wave Fluctuations

The anomalous particle and heat fluxes in a finite β inhomogeneous plasma due to electromagnetic drift wave fluctuations in a strongly-sheared magnetic field are obtained correct to the first order with respect to β (plasma pressure / magnetic pressure). Using the proper eigenfunctions of perturbed field, we show that the transport is reduced by the finite β effect regardless of the formation of fluctuating magnetic islands. Broken ambipolarity is also found.
