Uniaxial Stress-Effect on the One-Dimensional Band Structure of [Pt(en)_2][Pt(en)_2Cl_2](ClO_4)_4 (en=ethylenediamine)

Piezoreflectance spectra of quasi-one-dimensional [Pt(an).1 [Pt(en).Cl.](CIO.).crystals have been measured under a uniaxial stress along the chain axis, in thephoton energy range from 1.5 eV to 8 eV. Under a compressive stress, a charge-transfer transition between platinum d.z bands shifts to lower eraergies, whereas transi-lions from halogen p. bands to a platinum d.z band shift to higher energies.Moreover, oscillator strength of the charge-transfer transition increases. These resultsyield a stress-dependence of band parameters in the one-dintensional d.x-p. bandswhich is well explained by the band scheme obtained by the tight-binding approximalion.
