Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Relaxation of DY^<163> in Ferromagnetic Dysprosium Metal at Low Temperature

Nuclear magnetic resonance and relaxation Dy^<163> in ferromagnetic dysprosium metal were investigated at liquid helium temperatures. The NMR spectrum consists of five equally spaced lines frequency range from 300 MHz to 2000 MHz. Both spin-lattice and spin-spin relaxations were measured. It is concluded that a process in which the nuclear energy relaxes to the kinetic energy of the conduction electrons via spin waves (the Weger process) is predominant in the spin-lattice relaxation, and the spin-spin relaxation time is solely determined by the spin-lattice relaxation(the Walstedt mechanism).
