薬用植物エキスの植物エストロゲン活性を評価する目的で,naringinaseで前処理し,MCF-7ヒト乳癌細胞の増植反びyeast two-hybrid assay法によるβ-galactosidase活性の誘導を指標とする方法を開発した。検討したエキスの中でALpinia katsumadai, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Moghania philippinensisはnaringinase処理することにより,元のエキスよりエストロゲン活性が強くなった。G. uralensisのエキスをnaringinase処理すると,エストロゲン活性のあるliquiritigeninとisoliquiritigeninの含有量は顕著に増加した。この結果は,生薬を経口投与すると場内細菌による配糖体の加水分解が起り,エストロゲン活性が増大することを示唆している。
