Brillouin Scattering Study of Glass-Forming Liquid with Simple Structure Using Angular Dispersion Fabry-Perot Interferometer

Brillouin scattering of deuterized ethylene glycol was measured from 216K to 405K and dielectric measurement was done from 150K to 215K. To avoid crystallization and evaporation, the quick measurement of Brillouin scattering was done for about one hour by using angular dispersion Fabry-Perot interferometer system. The observed Brillouin spectra are analyzed by a single relaxation model. The determined relaxation frequency obeys the Arrhenius law and due to the fast relaxation process comparison with the α-process observed by the dielectric measurement.
