The four heat-mode contribution to the sound attenuation and dispersion in a critical fluid is studied. The equal-time correlation function of four order-parameter fluctuations which enters this contribution is evaluated using the renormalization group method up to O(ε^2) where ε=4-d, d being the dimensionality of space. The results eliminate the discrepancies between the existing theory and experiments of high frequency sound attenuation and dispersion.
