We measured bone mineral density and makers for bone metabolism in the osteoporosis model rats which were given low Ca content diet. We report on correlation between bone mineral density (BMD) and makers for bone metabolism [osteocalcin (OC) in serum, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) inserum, pyridinorine (Pyr) in urine, deoxypyridinorine (DPyr) in urine]. The BMD level is correlated positively with the ALP level and correlated negatively with the OC level, the PTH level, the Pyr level and the DPyr level.
