Comparisons of Inhibitory Effects of Genistein and Genistin on Lipid Peroxidation of Brain Homogenate in vivo

Genistein and its glycoside genistin are isofalvones. The inhibitory effects genistein and genistin were compared in vitro. While genistein inhibited lipid peroxidation of mouse brain homogenate induced by the ferrous ion-hydrogen peroxide, the inhibitory effect of genistin was little. The effect of genistein was similar to that of mannitol as hydroxy radical scavenger.
