Effects of Substitution of Na and K Ions for Ag Ion in (Ag,Li)NbO3 Ceramics

The composition of (Ag,Li,Na,K)NbO3 ceramics has been investigated by X-ray analysis, dielectric and piezoelectric measurements. Na and K ions were substituted for the Ag+ lattice site of (Ag0.9Li0.1)NbO3 ceramic. The solubility limit of K2O in (Ag0.9Li0.1)NbO3 was estimated to be between 5 mol% and 7.5 mol%. The crystal phase of (Ag,Li,Na,K)NbO3 changed in order from rhombohedral to monoclinic, tetragonal, and cubic with increasing temperature. The temperature of disappearing piezoelectric response was increased to 340°C by the substitution of K ions in (Ag0.9Li0.1)NbO3. On the other hand, there was no improvement in the temperature by the substitution of Na ions alone. The piezoelectric constant $d_{33} = 66$ pC/N and electromechanical coupling coefficient $k_{33} = 48$% were obtained in (Ag0.75Li0.1Na0.1K0.05)NbO3 ceramics.
