• The molecular structure of CBrCl<SUB>3</SUB> has been determined by gas electron diffraction to be as follows: <I>r</I><SUB>g</SUB>(C–Cl)=1.765<SUB>4</SUB>(l<SUB>7</SUB>) Å, <I>r</I><SUB>g</SUB>(C–Br)=1.944(4) Å, and ∠ClCCl=109.7<SUB>4</SUB>(l<SUB>3</SUB>)°. The mean amplitudes have been fixed at the calculated values in the data analysis. The result has been compared with the structures of related halomethanes.
