• <I>c</I>- and <I>t</I>-3-Acetyl-1,<I>c</I>-2-dimethyl-<I>r</I>-1-cyclopentanols and <I>c</I>-3-acetyl-1,<I>t</I>-2-dimethyl-<I>r</I>-1-cyclopentanol are synthesized stereoselectively and <I>dl</I>-plinols A, B, and C are prepared therefrom.
