A retrospective study of 37 intercapsular femoral neck fracture treated with osteosynthesis is presented, with an average follow-up of five years and one month. There were 4 males and 33 females, their mean age being 67 years. The fractures were classified according to Garden.There were re-displacement in 4 cases, non-union in 2 cases and avascular necrosis in 7 cases. The patients under 70 years of age developed avascular necrosis more frequently than the patients over 70 years, and the treatment for many patients with dementia or mental disturbance failed.
