Subclavian steal syndrome is caused by proximal subclavian artery occlusion with retrograde filling of the distal subclavian artery via the ipsilateral vertebral artery. This syndrome is characterized by symptoms due to decreased cerebral blood flow and decreased blood flow to the arm and hand. The most common etiology of this syndrome is atherosclerosis and trauma is rare. In this paper we present the case of a patient with radiographic and pathological evidence of traumatic subclavian steal syndrome and review the literature on related injuries.
