Funtional knee bracec are designed to provide stability of the knees. Commercially braces depend on the hinge, post and strap or shell to control anterior orposterior tibial displacement. As the present widely used elastic strap systems have such problems as skin ischemia and inefficient stability in every flexion angle, we have developed a new mechanism to control tibial displacement. The main difference in this brace is an additional tibial bar that moves parallel with the main upright and pulls the straps anteriorly and posteriorly. Six patients with cruciate ligament deficient knees tested this brace with satisfactory results We believe that this new knee brace, because of ets uniqueness, will be beneficial to patients suffering from crucite ligament injuries.
