Diagnosis and Treatment of Primary Malignant Lymphoma of Bone A Report of Six Cases.

Six cases of malignant lymphoma of bone were reviewed. Radiographic and histological diagnosis were not always easy. Initial radiographic diagnosis of the lesion was as follows; metastatic carcinoma 4, osteosarcoma or malignant fibrous histiocytoma 1, and chronic osteomyelitis 1.Histologic diagnosis was as follows; sarcoma unclassified 1, metastatic carcinoma 2, malignant lymphoma 2, chronic osteomyelitis 1, round cell tumor 1. In regard to treatment, three patients received chemotherapy and surgery, two received preoperative radiation followed by prosthetic surgery. Five patients died from the disease, giving a survival duration ranging from 8 months to 6 years and 2 months. Using these results the five-year survical rate according to the Kaplan-Meier's method was 33.3%.
