Clinical evaluation of enteric nutrient MA-7 in the oral and maxillofacial regions.

MA-7, an enteric nutrient, was administered for nutritionalmanagement and feeding of 25 patients with diseases in the oral and maxillofacial regions.Because of due considerations given to not only the tube feeding but also the intra-oral feeding this nutrient allows a long-term use, providing full satisfaction to patients.<BR>The administration of MA-7 tended to increase the patients' weight, serum total protein, and serum albumin, allowing effective nutritional management compared with the conventional enteric nutrients.<BR>The incidence of side effects, especially symptoms in the digestive tract, was low. Also no abnormality of blood components attributable to the administration of MA-7 was observed. It was concluded that MA-7 was instrumental as a enteric nutrient because it provided effective nutritional management and caused few incidences of side effects.
