The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of third-body media and compositions of composite resins on wear resistance. Volume losses and maximum wear depths of five composite resins after 50,000 wear cycles using a ball-sliding on disc wear testing machine with PMMA beads and poppy seed as third-body media were measured. Amount of wear increased with increase of wear cycles. The ratio of increase was dependent on composite resins and third-body media used. The third-body media, poppy seed and PMMA beads, showed different wear quantification on composite resin materials.
