Identification of Sesquiterpenoid Constituents in the Essential Oil of Curcuma wenyujin by Capillary Gas Chromatographic Mass Spectrometry

Terpenoid constituents in the essential oil of Curcuma wenyujin were investigated, using capillary gas chromatographic mass spectrometry (CGC-MS). Certain sesquiterpenoids of biogenetic interest such as curdione, curcumol, curcumakctone, neocurdione, germacrene D, elemol and eudesmol were identified. Successful separation and identification of curdione, curcumol and curcumalactone was achieved for the first time by GC using a silicon-coated short column.
