In an automotive fuel pump system, a small DC motor is widely used to drive the pump. Brush and commutator of DC motor during commutation, large control domintatal in arc generated wear, performance and so on. Generally a commutator consists of several segments, and commutation current curve and arc duration are different from each commutator segment. We have made a device that can measure the commutation curve of the each commutator segment and the arc duration. In this paper it is reported that the commutation current curve of each commutator segment was obtained by using the developed commutator segment identifying set-up.
