In recently years, a remarkable amount of miniaturization has occurred in electrical equipment. However, this has lead to problems involving reduced contact pressure at electrical contacts, some times leading to contact failure. Therefore, it is important to clarify the surface change in the contact point of contact materials, and to clarify the process of the increasing contact resistance. In this study, we focus on contact resistance and contact surfaces.by using 3D laser microscope. We clarify a current collecting mechanism in the contact surface. We discuss the factors to generate such contact failure. Especially, we will clarify the relation between the contact failure and the shape of the peripheral part of the contact device. Namely, if the pin has the conic shaped tip, the contact resistance is decreased with elapsed time. On the other hand, in case of the hemisphere shaped tip, the contact resistance is increased with current collecting time.
