Structural Optimization for Small Container Ship with Large Hatch Opening〔含討論〕

The hull construction cost of hold length for small container ship with large hatch opening is taken as an objective function to be minimized by the multiplier method in this paper. The structural optimum designs based on the concept of elastic design and plastic design are carried out. In order to evaluate the design constraints, the structural analyses for the transverse strength and for the longitudinal bending and torsional strength are implemented by transfer matrix method. Through the numerical analyses, it is demonstrated that: (1) The present method is reasonable for the structural optimization of small container ship with large hatch opening. (2) It is necessary to consider the horizontal deflection of hatch opening and the strength of longitudinal bending and torsion in the structural optimum design of small container ship with large hatch opening. (3) There is a proper number of transverse web frame spaces that makes the hull construction cost get the minimum value for both the elastic design and the plastic design.
