EFFECT OF ORGANOPHOSPHORIC FLAME RETARDANTS ON ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE, ACID PHOSPHATASE AND CHOLINESTERASE FROM GUINEA PIG SKIN

The inhibition of alkaliphosphatase [EC 3・1・3・1] (ALP), acid phosphatase [EC 3・1・3・2] (ACP) and cholinesterase [EC 3・1・1・8] (ChE) in the skin from guinea pig by the organophosphoric flame retardants such as polyphosphoric carbamate (PPC), methy1 phosphoric carbamate (MPC) and ammonium bis-dibromopropy1 phosphate (ABP) was examined. The skin ALP was inhibited by PPC, MPC and ABP, and the type of inhibition were competitive, mixed and uncompetitive, respectively. PPC was a strong inhibitor, and the other two chemicals were moderate inhibitors. The skin ACP was inhibited by PPC, MPC and ABP, and the types were competitive, mixed and mixed, respectively. PPC and ABP were strong inhibitors, but MPC was a week inhibitor. The skin ChE was inhibited only by ABP, but the other two compounds had no effect. The flame retardants examined showed different types of inhibition. The security of these compounds used as flame retardants was discussed.
