A Study on Optimization of Electromagnetic Relay's Reaction Torque Characteristic Based on Adjusted Parameters

The cooperative characteristic of electromagnetic relay's attractive torque and reaction torque is the key technique to ensure its reliability, and it is important to attain a better cooperative characteristic by analyzing and optimizing relay's electromagnetic system and mechanical system. From the perspective of changing reaction torque of mechanical system, this paper takes adjusted parameters (armature's maximum angular displacement α_<arm_max>, initial return spring's force F_<initi_return_spring>, normally closed (NC) contacts' force F_<NC_contacts>, contacts' gap δ_<gap> and normally open (NO) contacts' over travel δ_<NO_contacts>) as design variables, and gives the objective function with the purpose of increasing the breaking velocities of both NC contacts and NO contacts. And finally, genetic algorithm (GA) is used to accomplish the optimization of the objective function.
