A new combination nozzle which allows dross-free laser cutting of ceramics and other materials was developed, enabling fine cutting of up to 6mm. A new method of plasma control for welding ceramics was also developed, enabling full penetration welds of alumina ceramics up to 10mm thick in a high temperature furnace.
