A new ion nitriding apparatus (grow discharge ionized process) was installed and with this process nitriding surface hardening has been tried for various commercial nonferrous and some ferrous metals and alloys. As a result, the selection of the metals and alloys which can be done surface hardening with nitriding process was tentatively established.
