Photoelectric Effects on Doped Semiconductor/MBBA/SnO_2 Cell

The photoelectric effects at the doped semiconductor/MBBA interface have been studied and a model is proposed. The injected charges from electrodes into MBBA form a space-charge distribution and the energy band in the semiconductor bends near this interface, so that photo-injected carriers in MBBA are conveyed to achieve a new equilibrium. From the peak shift in spectral response caused by insertion of the MBBA layer between semiconductor and metal plates, the activation energy of 0.4 eV is calculated. This value coincides with the activation energy for the π-electron hopping process between benzene molecules.
