Evolutions of envelope solitons of ionization wave packets with finite amplitude are observed in a positive column of He glow discharges. The wave packet excited by a high voltage pulse divides into two or three packets with propagation along the discharge tube. Evaluating the coefficients of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation by the wave dispersion and down-shifts of the frequency with the increase in wave amplitude, the divided wave packets can be regarded as envelope solitons.
