In an attempt to eliminate coloring irregularity and variations in the response speed of LCDs utilizing tungsten oxide films, the electromotive force (EMF) originating in a cell was investigated as a possible cause of these undesirable characteristics. Sputtered metal-tungsten oxide cermit films were developed as an imporved method. Furthermore, a prototype two-dimensional writing board was made using Ta-WO_3 cermet film mounted on a counter electrode.
