The coloration and bleaching kinetics of a symmetric electrochromic cell have been investigated. The current-time response of the symmetric cell is explained by a modified equation concerning space-charge limited current, which includes a term of time-depended voltage. From an experiment using a reference electrode it was found that the voltage change of the cell is due to the generation of electromotive force between an electrochromic layer and an electrolyte and also to the change of potential distribution between two electrochromic layers of the cell.
