Theoretical Considerations on ZnTe-Iodine Transport in a Closed-Tube System

The AN (Arizumi and Nishinaga) theory is modified by adopting different values of the diffusivitity for different gas species. This approach enables us to give an absolute value of the transport rate, because it contains no unknown parameters. The theoretical calulation by this model is applied to the analysis of ZnTe-iodine transport in a closed-tube system, and it is established that the mean diffusivity (D_0) varies from 0.038 cm^2/s to 0.015 cm^2/s in the range of iodine concentration from 2×10^<-3> mg/cm^3 to 2×10^<-1> mg/cm^3 as a result of the appearance of two different main reactions depending upon the iodine concentration. It is concluded that this analysis is valid for explaining a transport process with more than one main reaction, whereas the AN calculation gives a good description only for a system dominated by a single main reaction.
