Torsion of Compound Hollow Cylinder with an External Annular Crack

In this paper, the axisymmetric torsion problem of compound infinite hollow cylinder with an external annular crack is considered on the basis of the three-dimensional theory of elasticity. The cylinder is composed of two layers of different materials. The problem is reduced to solution of an infinite system of simultaneous equations. The distribution of displacement and shear stress as well as the stress intensity factor K_<III> are computed for various combinations of the elastic modulus for the inner and outer layers.
