概要

Fine Structures of three cases of focal cortical epilepsy were studied with brief electrophysiological comments. The findings were summarized as follows. There were no neuronal outfalls in any case. There were giant neurons as large as pyramidal Betz cells in two cases.Neurofilaments were seen distributed in the neuropils and particularly in glial cytoplasmic processes. The Synaptic vesicles decreased in number, sometimes aggregated near the synaptic membrane.Synaptic components appeared to be degenerated. There were no severe gliosis. But there were electron dense granules of the lipofuscin-like substance in the neurons and in the glial cytoplasm. The vascular system seemed normal in all cases.
