By the use of immunoperoxidase technique, tetanus toxin binding sites were ultrastructurally demonstrated in monolayer culture after three days in cultures derived from the spinal ganglia of the 10 day-chick embryo. The toxin binding sites, seen as electron dense reaction products, were clearly limited to the surface membranes of the neuronal processes, but not of the nerve cell bodies.
