A quasi-two-dimensional antiferromagnetic Ising model on a hexagonal close-packed lattice is analyzed theoretically and studied by a Monte Carlo method. As thetemperature is decreased, a two-dimensional paramagnetic (2DP) phase, a threedimensional paramagnetic (3DP) phase, where short range orders of spins with incommensurate periods extensively develop, and a non-periodic freezed (NPF) phase occursuccessively. The appearance of the NPF phase is attributed to an effect of a weak in-terlayer exchange interaction. We believe that our results explain recent experimentson Limit. performed by Hirakawa et al.
