Anisotropic Ferromagnet on a Triangular Lattice with Antiferromagnetic Next-Nearest-Neighbor Interactions

We study the naagnetic orderirag of an anisotropic Heisenberg ferromagnet 011 a triangular latticewith antiferromagnetic next-nearest-neighbor interactions by means of the mean field theoryand a cornputer simulation. We find that, as the temperature is decreased, an incornmensurateshort-range order state and a ferrornagnetic long-range phase appear strccessively. The phasetransition between thern is of the first order and the relaxtttion time of the transition is verylong. Hence, we suggest that the low temperature phase realized in nature is a domain state inwhich ferrornagnetic domains with various sizes are tangled with each other. We also suggestthat the model would be applicable to the cotnpound LiNiO3.
