For the two-dimensional quadratic Ising ferromagnet with mixed spins of.5= 1/2 and .5= 1, the Curie temperature T. has been calculated with the use ofBethe-Peierls theory. Assuming the bilinear exchange interactions Jg betweennearest neighbors (n.n.) of the different spins, J. and J. between two kinds ofnext nearest neighbors (n.n.n.) of the same spins, and the biquadratic exchangeJ; between n.n. and J; between n.n.n. of spins .5=1, the behaviors of T. as afunction of these exchange parameters are investigated. The ferromagneticorder is shown to be unstable when the ratio J;/J. amounts to - 1.85. It is alsopointed out that J; and J; give a qualitatively different effect on T.. Furthermore,it turns out that the exchange interaction J. between n.n.n.. of spins S = 1 gives moresignificant effect on T. than J. between n.n.n. of spins .5= 1/2.
