The Cluster Approach with Effective Field Approximation to Exchange Coupling in Layer-Type Compound Cu (NH_3)_2CO_3

Maaetic suscer>tibilit>' data on CO(NH3)2C03 are analted bv the effectivefield approximation in addition to a cluster approach. The layer structure ofCu(NH3).C03 consists of carbonate bridged chains of copper (II) ions linkedtogether into sheets bar h>'drosen bondins. The cluster model of three C0pper ionsunder the effective fields gives a nice fit with the experimental data with the intra-chain exchange constant of -5.9 K and the interchain exchange constant of 5.5K. The results are compared with those of the recent investigation by the clusterapproach.
