By using a nonlinear LC transmission line, an experimental study of the pro-perties of solitons concerning their width and velocity has been made to examinethe validity of the higher order Korteweg-de Vries (K-dV) theory which is con-sidered up to the second order effects of nonlinearity and dispersion. The theoreti-cal result well agrees with the experimental data for fairly large amplitude regionand the range of validity of this theory, in particular, with respect to the width isfound to be much enlarged compared with that of the lowest order K-dV theory.
