Nlagnetic properties of' RENIeg.5NzIng.503 xvith lVIe : Ni and Co are investigated f'or a seriesof rare earrth (HE) elertaents. In botlt systeraas xvith Xzle : Xi and Co, the Ctrrie tetnperature(]0), beloxv xvhich the raaagnetic ttaotaaerats of' lN4e" and Kin"" alligta ferrotnagnaetically, decreasesretaaarkably as RE ,goes f'roun L?t to hettvier eleraaents; f'roun 295 K for RE : La to 50 K for' Ltrxvith Ivle = Xi, and frorn 250 II( for La to 95 K for No with Nle : Co, The decrease of 'Z'C isinterpreted as due to the bond ?rngle (&) dependence of the superexchange interactions betweenlVIe" and lVIn" through O' ; T0is rotrghly linear to cos'2 as predicted by a sirmple theory[C. Boeketna et at.'; Int. J. Ivlatg. 3 (1972) 3414, btrt a distinct deviation frona the linear re1?ttionis observed for the late RE eletnents. The raaagnetic naornents of HE ions appears only in a IOXVtemperature region, typically beloxv 30 K. Qtralitative disctrssion on the exchange interactionsinvolving HE is presented.
