Precision Lattice Spacing Measurements Using X-Ray Cu Kα Doublet

A precision method of tneasuring the lattice spacing difference by a sensitivity of 1 part in 10"is presented. The rtaethod trses the Ka dotzblet from one conventional X-ray ttzbe as two beamswith a position sensitive proportional counter in a dotrble-crystal spectrometer. To achieve thissensitivity the device positioning the sample crystal parallel to the unonochrornator is trsed.The naethod is applied to the examination of' the lattice spacing variations in silicon crystalscontaining 0,93 to 1.5 x 10" atonas/cuaa' of oxygen contents which are subjected to a two-step(low-high) annealing. The lattice spacing differences obtained for these satnples are in the rangeof 10 " -10 '
