Phase Transition from Antiferromagnetic to Metallic State in La_<2-x>Sr_xNiO_<4+δ>

We have measured "'La nuclear magnetic resonance and nuclear quadrupoleresonance in La. .Sr,Nip.., at low temperatures (1.4-4.2 K) in order to investigatethe change in the magnetic and electronic structures when Sr is doped intoLazNi0?.j. The Sr-substituted compound shows an antiferromagnetic order up tox - 1 with a monotonous decrease in the internal magnetic field H,.. at the La sites. Inthe high Sr-content region at x - 1, we find a phase transition to a nonmagnetic statewhere H,.. disappears. In the nonmagnelic state, the Knight shift of "'La is about-1.5%for,v=1.0and -1.0%for,v=1.3,andthe"'Laspin-latticerelaxationtimeT. follows the Korringa relation of T.T - 7.6 sK for x= 1.0 and : 48 sK for ,v= 1.3,which indicates that the system is in a normal metallic state.
