Electronic excitation ('A..+'7'..) energies in MnF. with Mg or Ca impurityare studied. The inverse of the force constant matrix (static limit of Green'sfunction) is calculated accurately by the dotuble exponential formula, and thedistortions of the lattice around the impurity are obtained from the conditionfor the lattice to be stable in the harmonic approximation. They are rendered intothe normal coordinates of the [M0F6l'- complexes containing the Mn" ionfirst, second or third nearest to the impurity, and the variations of their excitationenergies due to the distortion of the A.., E.. and T... mode are calculated. Effectsof these three modes are obtained from the comparison between the observedvariation of the excitation energies and the lattice distortion under uniaxialstress, which is calculated from the condition of the minimum potential energyper unit cell.
