Ground State of a Wigner Crystal in a Magnetic Field I.Cubic Structure

The ground-state energies in magnetic fields are calculated for the electroncrystals with the bcc and fcc structures at low electronic densities. The energiesare obtained as sums of the static energy and the zero-point vibration energy inthe harmonic approximation. The zero-point energy of the fcc becomes lower thanthat of the bcc above a critical strength of magnetic field. This leads to a struc-tural phase transition frcm the bcc to the fcc caused by magnetic field. The phasediagram is determined in the density-field plane.
