Incoherent neutron scattefing ffom protons in l-ICI has been measured mainlyin Phase I with the disordered structure of molecular orientation. The observedenersv srectra of neutrons are well interrreted bv a reorientational Jumr>modelin which a molecule makes reorientation among twelve (110) directions throughthe 60' and 90' flipping processes. The residence time r between successive jumpsobtained by the model-fit obeys the relation r=r. exp (E/k.T) with o.=l.07 x10 " sec. and E=O.372 kcal/mol. in the higher-temperature region in Phase I.The value of r was compared with the correlation time for molecular reorientationobtained by NMR method.
