Effects of Deuteration on Proton Tunneling Modes and Coupled Optic Modes in the Raman Spectrum of KDP Crystals

Raman spectrunx was studied for several KH.(.-.)D2.PO. crystals with0<.v<0.85. Effects of deuteration were seen in spectra of collective tunnelingmodes and optical naodes coupled to thenx. Below T., in the B. naodes spectra forlarge ,v, a distinct narrowing of the width of a aaaode (co? =2l0 cm- ') was observedin addition to the expected extinction of the soft n?ode (co-= 140 C]11='). In theE-mode spectra, a sharp ntode at 113 cm-' and a broad Rayleigh wing were alsofound to be sensitive to the deuteration.
